Description: Victorian designed sterling silver large part mermaid, part horse whimsy ring. A merhorse is a mythical creature that had the head of a horse, sea serpent body and the tail of a fish. They could transform into a human form and mate with a human. It is said that if a human were ever to attempt to ride one it would carry them into the water and the human would drown. The symbolism of these stories represents the idea that these creatures were guides into the Underworld. However, they did not kill actually you; they drove you under where you faced your darkest fears, and then released you.
These rings are made with original hand engraved dies, also known as 'hubs', from a collection dating back from the 1800's to early 1900's. They are very detailed with an antiqued finish and are not mass produced. Cast per order making these whimsy rings a very unique, personal and one of a kind gift. Using a combination of techniques from the past and present these fabulous designs have been brought back to life in such a way that even the original tool marks hand engraved�over a 100 years ago are left intact and preserved as part of the history and charm of your ring.
Measurements: Measuring 5/8" by 5/8" wide across the top on a slim 2.0mm wide band. The corners of this ring stick out slightly, as the top does not curve to the finger. Manufactured in approx. ring size 8 1/2.�If resizing is required select it from the drop down ring size selection box.
